The Council is comprised of an Executive Committee and two distinct committees: "Annual Meeting" and "Educational Development." The "Educational Development Committee" is responsible for researching and implementing various types of educational programs targeted to the general neurologist, primary care physicians, nurses, students and residents. Subcommittees include Annual Course, Investigators' Workshop, Clinical Investigators' Workshop, Scientific Program, Primary Care, and Student & Resident.

Charge:
- Overseeing the developmetn of all educational programs developed by AES members and committees. Direct and provide guidance to these programs.
- Periodically oversee a national needs assessment proejct, reivew management procedures, including the budget, of the CME programs to assure the quality of educational activities.
- Responsible for setting the standard for issues impacting the quality and production of educational activities, such as standards for conflict of interest, teacher qualifications, and honoraria.
- Responsible for ensuring that AES educational activities meet ACCME standards.
Goals/Strategies:
- Streamline the Society's education committee structure and work process.
- Create an annual education agenda and build educational programs around the agenda. Link agenda to Society's strategic plan.
- Offer and identify content appropriate to beginners, intermediate, and advanced learning needs.
- Provide/increase opportunities for focused/specialized learning.
- Conduct program assessment to determine value of existing programs.
- Identify single staff person in charge of oversight for all education committees. Update organizational chart.
